Strawberry Shortcake Hat

A wonderfully adaptable pattern. Combine with the now sew baby booties and the baby armour vest in the colours of your choice to make a matching set that will make baby stand out from the crowd. It is worked in the round.
Difficulty and Terminology: This is an easy pattern and uses US terminology.
What You Will Need: 1 ball light pink double knit (8 ply) weight yarn (50g) 1 ball pink double knit (8 ply) weight yarn (50g) 5 mm crochet hook Tapestry needle (to weave in ends) Ribbon, i cord, or length of foundation chains
Tension:
14 sts/8 rounds = 10 cm/4 inches square in dc without turning at the end of each round
Sizing: The hat will be about 30cm in circumference for a premie The hat will be about 36cm in circumference for newborns to 6 months
Abbreviations: ch - chain dc - double crochet
slst - slip stitch
The Hat: Change colour after each round To begin (with pink) ch 4. Round 1: work 9 dc into 1st ch or into loop. Join with slst into first dc (10 dc)
Round 2: (with light pink) ch 1, 2dc into each dc. Join with slst into first dc (20 dc) Round 3: ch 1, dc in first dc, 2dc into next dc, *dc into dc, 2dc into next dc* repeat from * to * until the end. Join with slst into first dc (30 dc) Round 4: ch 1, 2dc in first dc, dc into next 2 dc, *2dc into dc, dc into next 2 dc* repeat from * to * until the end. Join with slst into first dc (40 dc) Round 5 (for large only): ch 1, dc in first 3 dc, 2dc into next dc, *dc into next 3 dc, 2dc into next dc* repeat from * to * until the end. Join with slst into first dc (50 dc) Round 5 (6): ch 1, dc in each dc around. Join with slst into first dc. Round 6 - 9 (for small only): repeat round 5 (6) (40 dc) Round 7 - 11 (for large only): repeat round 5 (6) (50 dc) Round10(12): ch1,sc in first dc,ch3,sk dc,sc in next dc,*ch3 sk dc,sc in next dc* repeat from * to * until end. Join with slst into first sc.
Finishing Fasten off and weave in ends
Adding in the Accent Weave ribbon, i-cord, or foundation chain through loops of the last round and tie with a bow.
