Baskets are useful. They keep your frippery bits altogether, keep your pens in one place, or perhaps hold your yarn. There are many crocheted baskets in my house that hold a variety of items. Enjoy his basket to store or organise your house. The basket will look great in any colour combination that suits your decor.
Difficulty and Terminology: This is an easy pattern and uses US terminology. This pattern is worked with two strands held together From round 5 the stitches are worked back loop only and in a spiral.
What You Will Need: 6.5 mm hook 1 ball 4 Seasons Pure Wool 8 ply in Eggplant
1 ball 4 Seasons Pure Wool 8ply in Dark Pink 3 stitch markers Tapestry needle to weave in ends
Tension: Sizing: The finished bag is 27cm wide and 18 cm high. 11 sts/11 rows = = 10cm/4 inches square in dc without turning at the end of each round
Abbreviations: ch - chain sc - single crochet dc - double crochet hdc - half double crochet slst - slip stitch
The Basket: Ch 21, Round 1: 2sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in 18, 4sc in last ch, now working on the other side of the foundation chain, sc in 18, 2sc in last ch, join with slip stitch; Round 2: ch1, hdc in same st as join, 2hdc, hdc in 18, 2hdc, hdc in 2, 2hdc, hdc in 18, 2hdc, hdc in last sc, join with slip stitch; Round3: ch1,scinsamestasjoin,sc,*2sc,scin2,hdcin2,dcin10hdc,hdcin2,sc in 2, 2sc, ,* sc in 4,, 2sc, repeat * to *, sc in last 2, join with slip stitch; Round 4: ch1, 2sc in same st as join, sc, 2sc, sc in 20, 2sc, sc, 2sc, in 2, sc, 2sc, sc in 20, 2sc, sc, 2sc, join with slip stitch;
Working in back loop only from now on and using a stitch marker Round 5: sc in each sc around;
move stitch marker after every round; Round 6 - 21: repeat round 5; Fold flat to find middle points of thin sides, put a stitch marker in both middle stitches. Round 22: sc, ch12, sk (marked) sc, sc in 27, ch 12, sk (marked) sc, sc in 28; Round 23: sc in each sc around, join with slip stitch after last sc.
Finishing Fasten off and weave in ends
